MFB: Lord of The Rings Cosplay Night

I’m a big LOTR fan and while I don’t have an official cosplay just yet of me in something from the amazing world that captivated my childhood, I did throw together an amazing closet Galadriel! Can I also shout out my partners absolutely amazing fit? I mean it’s such a perfect casual fandom fit.

When I was just a kid I was pulled into Tolkien’s The Hobbit and I wanted nothing more than to be off on an adventure. The stories took me leagues across Middle Earth and from there gave me a love for storytelling, art, writing, music and later cosplay.

Now I cosplay for fun in a community that I have grown to love. Millennium Fandom Bar is amazing; I love being a part of it. Alex knows everyone and I’ve made so many friendships because of the gatherings he has brought together.

My friend Chase, a frequent guest and fellow cosplayer is just one example. I met him through the volunteer work we both do at Critical Care Comics. A charity I was recruited into after wearing my I Love Lucy cosplay to a Star Trek night on one of my early events at MFB.

I was so nervous to ask Chase for photos in his amazing Frodo cosplay. I’m not necessarily shy, I am just anxious about bothering people I enjoy spending time with. So, I asked once and figured if it happened it happened and if not no big deal. Well, an hour or so later and Mario encourages me to try to grab him for pics. But after seeing him busy with other friends and enjoying himself I passed. Joined in on conversation.

When Chase came back to grab me for photos, I was excited. Silly I know, but we’re all nerds, we’ve all grown up having to be small. We got to be big in our fandoms; we could dive deep into them in the safety of our rooms. So sometimes I forget that I have found my place with people like me. Passionate about their hobbies, about their fandoms and want to share in it with others who also love it too.
